The Dallas/Fort Worth area has a rich history of blues performers,
recording sessions, and events stretching back to the earliest days
of the blues. That legacy continues today. Over 100 blues bands
live and perform in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Over 50 blues performances
occur weekly around the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Over 100 blues
CDs have been released by DFW blues bands in the last five years. People
from all over the world travel to DFW specifically to experience our local
blues scene. Record labels around the country and in Europe have
mined the rich lode of DFW blues talent. All of this with little notice
by the local press and the general public.
The goal of Dallas/Fort Worth Blues History Week is to help promote
the local blues scene and educate local citizens about some of the blues
history of the area. All events are free.
